I know this lady called Jane. She is in my opinion the best photographer that I know. She uses Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 for basic to advanced editing. The problem is that when she downloads one of the quadrillion free adobe plug-ins, it is not available on the filters menu under the editing tasks. This only happens in Windows 7 and as it seems with the 64-bit version even if you install the plug-in in the correct X86 folder.
Solution:
Download the plug-in and install it to a temporary folder anywhere. Open the folder and move the files inside the temporary folder to the c:\program files(x86)\adobe\Photoshop 6.0\plug-ins folder. Inside this folder look for the .8bf file. Move this file to the same directory, but to the filters folder, with other words. c:\program files(x86)\adobe\Photoshop 6.0\plugins\filters. Open Adobe Photoshop and click on Quick Edit, Full Edit and click on Filters and you will see your plug-in under the sub menus. :-0
Hope this helps.
