Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins and extensions

I know this lady called Jane. She is in my opinion the best photographer that I know. She uses Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 for basic to advanced editing. The problem is that when she downloads one of the quadrillion free adobe plug-ins, it is not available on the filters menu under the editing tasks. This only happens in Windows 7 and as it seems with the 64-bit version even if you install the plug-in in the correct X86 folder.

Solution:

Download the plug-in and install it to a temporary folder anywhere. Open the folder and move the files inside the temporary folder to the c:\program files(x86)\adobe\Photoshop 6.0\plug-ins folder. Inside this folder look for the .8bf file. Move this file to the same directory, but to the filters folder, with other words. c:\program files(x86)\adobe\Photoshop 6.0\plugins\filters. Open Adobe Photoshop and click on Quick Edit, Full Edit and click on Filters and you will see your plug-in under the sub menus. :-0

Hope this helps.

Free Windows Fix – Yeah right! – Scam

I did a Google search for “free Windows optimization tools” or software and stumbled upon this tool at this link http://www.freewindowsfix.com/ . I was planning to place a link to my downloads section of my Web Site to this tool. After installing it I started with the optimization wizard. My computer started to hang and that silly svchost thing came up that says that your computer will restart in so many seconds. I immediately typed restart /a into the run box. Then the free software concluded that my license is not valid! A Web Page opened stating that I had to pay ZAR229.00 to continue using this software!

The only thing free about this software is the download, mind you, who pays for my bandwidth?
